A little update, a little later than usual.
I want to begin with a thank you to everyone who has supported me and my work over the past few years.
Being a full time artist is a treasure, but it is also often a struggle. There are times of being overworked and times of slowness and anxiety over what the next paycheck will look like.
If you like my work and would like to support me but don’t want to commit to a subscription, buying me a coffee is just as meaningful.
Of course, above all, reading my work is a gift. Thank you for being here.
Now, onto the updates.
What I’ve Written
My latest Substack, good girl burnout, went live last weekend and has received some fantastic feedback.
I’ve been writing 750 words for 66 days straight which means I’ve hit 50k words! So if you’ve ever wanted to write a 50k word book, it takes 750 words over 66 days!
Finished 10 chapters of a ghostwriting project 🥵
What I’m Working On
I booked my first ghostwriting coaching call! It has been such a thrill. Terrifying but so fun to get to talk one on one with an aspiring ghostwriter. Click here to learn more and book.
A new play idea…still brewing…inspired by the male 🙄 loneliness 🙄 epidemic 🙄…
Been very active on TikTok. Click here to find me.
How I’m Doing
Good! Stressed! Not too hard given the political climate! But good, mostly!
Exercise: 7 weeks down! I’m so proud of myself for continuing the work. I’m feeling so strong. Definitely still learning not to check the scale since muscle is denser than fat, but…
My boyfriend and I got a Costco membership. So you could say it’s getting serious.
I had a huge breakdown over how beautiful the world is on Easter! Just wow! So beautiful! I am fond of it! My period arrived the next day!
What’s Coming Up
A reading of my play, The Sporting Life, is coming up in Chicago on May 20th. Stay tuned for more info.
The Ghostwriting Blueprint: Still cranking it out and hoping to have it live at the end of May but more likely the beginning of June. A discounted pre-order will open soon.
I am always offering consultations and coaching on ghostwriting or romance writing, so if you need some guidance, feel free to reach out (rates are negotiable).
In the meantime, you can support me and my work by buying me a coffee.
What I’m Listening To
I’m back in my pop era which means I am on the heels of every new release of 21st century pop darlings. Been listening to ‘Bluest Flame’ by Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco and ‘End of the World’ by Miley Cyrus on repeat.
E and I are going on a roadtrip to visit his family in Ohio later this week and we’re each picking out five of our top albums of all time to share with one another. He reads my Substack, so I can’t reveal my choices. Let’s just say, it’s been fun to go back in the archive.
What I’m Reading
Uh…um…I’ve had Bet Me in my purse for a while (shoutout to Jess).
Lots of Substacks.
What I’m Watching
The Rehearsal. I had no idea Nathan Fielder was making a second season, but I’m so glad he did. His work is some of my favorite simply by the conceit I’m constantly questioning, “How does this man’s brain work?” The most recent episode was truly…mind bending.
The new season of Game Changer on Dropout. My favorite show on the network, aside from D20 of course. It’s in a league of its own as far as creativity goes. Come to think of it The Rehearsal and Game Changer are both examples of what it means to let artists take the reins and do what they really want to and how successful that can be.
TikTok. Yeah, I’m not happy about it either.
Survivor (still, begrudgingly). Currently an episode behind and just kind of over the new era. Everyone has a sob story, the racism still just isn’t dealt with, and I’m tired of this grandpa.
Other Things I Loved
Fried tofu. Oh, it has been one of my favorite treats. Fry it up in some avocado oil, makes some noodles? Obsessed.
My new linen pants from Costco. So comfy, so cute.
BG3 durge run update: I actually went for Gale because my latest Tav looks too much like Astarion but when it came to the Teifling party (I’m never siding the the goblins, sorry), Astarion was the only one I could get to fuck me. Like idk what to do with that. Gale did compare me to his tressym, though, so I think he wants to smash.
That’s all from me. Hope to read more books in the coming weeks. Too bad during my road trip I have to do all the driving.
Tenderly until next time,
Marjorie
In Love Letters, I explore the rage and joy of being a woman, the truth in contradiction, and the profound hidden in the pedestrian. If this piece resonated with you, tap the heart below.
